A hoy hoy,

A little while back you fav'd a piece of my art called "What makes the rain fall", on this account which I am no longer using. Well I'm not really an expert on the distinction between jaguars and panthers, but I do know that their habitats are quite different. Panthers, also known as cougars or pumas, are common in the U.S. and live on drier landscapes (I've seen a few wild ones myself). The Dallas World Aquarium encompassed aquatic life, rain forests, and part of South Africa. Jaguars have been pushed out of the U.S. and now reside mostly in Mexico, and Central and South America; much of Central and South America have rain forests, which is the jaguar's habitat. I know that both jaguars and cougars can be black (it's probably a recessive gene). While I was there, they actually switched out a normal-looking jaguar with this black one, and I'm sure that they wouldn't be placing them in the same habitat area if they were different species.
Before I took this photo I don't think I knew the difference between the two cats, either, so I also would've thought it was a panther unless I was informed otherwise.
